Crime Victims' Compensation Program, Washington State,
( 1-800-762-3716 ), was established by the 1973 crime victims
compensation act. Washington's Crime Victims' Compensation Program is
administered through the Washington State Department of Labor and
Industries. State law requires the Crime Victims' Compensation program to
pay the costs of sexual-assault examinations when they are performed to
gather evidence for possible prosecution. It also pays for health &
mental health services when the victim has exhausted other insurance
resources, both public and private, before using the benefits of the Crime
Victim' Compensation Program. Contact your insurance provider and the
Victims Program early, to clarify information and obtain information for
the victim and health care provider as to the benefits that can be
provided.
